With the arrival of the dual-carbon era, there is a new transformation in packaging materials under the goal of "carbon peak and neutrality". The circular economy has become a critical focal point for plastic packaging to become low-carbon, circular, and sustainable. swop will be held on November 22–24, 2023, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center where the Green Power immersive interactive exhibition area will be firstly rolled out to bring together cutting-edge information, brand design, OEM processing, sustainable packaging materials and products, and an innovative interactive platform for packaging supply chain communication. This exhibition area will gather more than 150 renowned exhibitors from various industries to discuss circularity, biodegradability, reduction, circular economy, white pollution management, green design, carbon neutrality, and carbon peak topics.

Lightweight and reduction are the buzzwords in plastic packaging sector as a result of the reducing usage of packaging materials by downstream industries and improving performance of plastic packaging materials to achieve "thin-walled" plastic packaging containers.
On the one hand, over packaging is prevalent in downstream industries such as food and beverage and express delivery, where there is excessive use of packaging materials and oversized packaging, negatively impacting consumers, businesses, and the environment. The lightweight plastic packaging helps reduce material consumption, production costs for businesses, and waste emissions and alleviates environmental burdens.
