swop (Shanghai World of Packaging) 2023 Grandly Opened Today

The 4th edition of swop (Shanghai World of Packaging) which is co-organized by Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. is taking place at SNIEC (Shanghai New International Expo Center) from November 22nd to 24th, 2023. 


As a member of the interpack alliance, the world's leading packaging exhibition, and as one of the most influential events in the packaging industry, swop integrates global resources to showcase the latest trends, forward-thinking concepts, and innovative technologies within the packaging industry. 


With over 62,000 square meters of exhibition space, swop 2023 brings together almost 900 exhibitors to showcase innovative packaging solutions and displaying cutting-edge processing and packaging production lines.
Exhibition themes will cover a range of trendy topics including artificial intelligence, sustainable packaging, smart factories, printing and labeling, processing and packaging components, packing materials and container production, e-commerce and logistics packaging, innovative packaging materials, packaging design, personalized packaging, and packaging lightweighting. 

 

A press briefing was arranged on Nov.22nd morning to kick off swop 2023. Press briefing speakers included Mr. Marius Berlemann, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Ms. Celine To, General Manager of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., Mr. Thomas Dohse, Project Director of interpack at Messe Düsseldorf, Germany, Mr. Ruan Rongtao, President of Shaoxing City Shangyu District Cosmetics Packaging Industry Association and Mr. Leo Wu, Founder of PKG Family. Representatives from over 30 trade media outlets were in attendance. 

 

Nearly 900 exhibitors worldwide convene from 11 countries and regions 


Mr. Marius Berlemann, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. delivered a welcome speech and introduced swop to the media outlets. swop 2023 draws almost 900 renowned exhibitors worldwide showcasing their latest products, technologies and services. The exhibitors are from China, Japan, Germany, the UK, Italy, Turkey, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, USA, and other countries and regions. Furthermore, a German group pavilion will again present their range of delivery and service solutions for the whole value chain with 11 exhibitors. 


Additionally, this year, swop has garnered extensive support from almost 100 domestic and international food, daily chemicals, plastics, printing, packaging, and other related industry associations. The trade show welcomes visitor groups from over 200 companies and associations with over 10,000 visitors in attendance. It is anticipated to attract the total of over 30,000 attendees from China, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Turkey, Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and other countries and regions. They will convene in Shanghai for three days at swop 2023 to delve into the premier event in the packaging industry.


Starting in 2024, swop will be upgraded as an annual event and provide comprehensive services for exhibitors and visitors, elevating the overall exhibiting experience. 

 

Focusing on trendy topics in the packaging industry: Sustainable packaging, packaging design and marketing, packaging intelligence and digitization


In her speech, Ms. Celine To, General Manager of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., presented the main themes of this year's swop: Green Power Dual Carbon New Era, Packaging Design and Packaging Marketing, as well as Packaging Intelligence and Digitalization. Highlights included the debut of the "European Sustainable Packaging Display Zone" to showcase cutting-edge packaging concepts of European FMCG products, AI applications in packaging design and marketing featuring the innovative integration of AI with consumer insights and packaging design to increase product sales in Japan. Additionally, exhibitors will present a diverse range of intelligent packaging types, packaging material production technology, and cost-effective solutions to enhance efficiency, among other highlights.  

 

Strong support by interpack for global outreach and promotion 


Mr. Thomas Dohse, interpack Director of Messe Düsseldorf in Germany, introduced the interpack alliance to guests and the media. He stated that interpack would be persisting in supporting swop. As a member of the interpack alliance, which is the world's foremost trade fair for packaging and processing, swop receives complete backing from interpack for global outreach and promotion. With the global commerce and exchanges recovering strongly and corporations renewing their vigor, companies at home and abroad have started actively expanding into new markets. 

 

Many special highlights will be featured at swop 2023, and a good number of them are also inspired by interpack. The Save Food Initiative was jointly founded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Messe Düsseldorf and interpack. Its goal is to combat global food loss and waste by fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and stimulating discussions. The Third 2023 Food Saving (China) Forum and China Food Saving Design Award/Sustainable Design Award Ceremony will be presented to exhibitors to honor innovative packaging solutions.

 

“FMCG Infinity Zone” doubles in size with upgraded lineups


With over 2,000 members in the FMCG industry, the Packaging Family, Asia pioneering platform in the field, is partnering with swop for the fourth time. During his speech, Mr. Wu Lin, the founder of the Packaging Family, stated the platform and swop are committed to building a highly valuable FMCG industry chain ecosystem. Both parties have jointly developed the "FMCG Infinity Zone," which has doubled in size since its inception. The "FMCG Infinity Zone" is a combination of over 400 superior packaging material and product suppliers exhibiting popular eco-friendly packaging products. This year, two show routes were customized for daily chemical packaging and food and beverage packaging, enabling companies to plan visit routes more efficiently.

 

Exciting concurrent forums and activities bring together over 110 packaging experts from both domestic and international markets to explore current hot topics in the packaging industry


Several large-scale, multi-topic forums will be held simultaneously throughout the three-day event, exploring food processing, intelligent packaging, green packaging, packaging design and creativity, and e-commerce logistics packaging, among other key topics. The objective is to conduct an in-depth study of the development trend of intelligent packaging and help both upstream and downstream packaging businesses to shape a new pattern in the post-epidemic era. Forums included "AI Drives the Future Forum", "Sustainable Packaging", "Innovation Logistics Packaging Technology Forum " and "Conference on FMCG Innovations" etc.
