CHRISTMAS CONFECTIONERY PACKAGING

Corona has changed everything this year. However, Christmas is still Christmas, even if we can’t gather around the tree with all our loved ones. This celebration of love and peace on earth goes hand in hand with eating lots of delicious food, and generally starts in August, when the sun is still high in the sky - but Christmas confectionery packaging starts sneaking onto the supermarket shelves.

A wide range of decor is on offer. Confectionery manufacturers send their creative agents out to look for the latest trends a year in advance. Why? Almost 40% of consumers consider sweets to be the most popular Christmas gift, according to a 2018 Christmas survey from the consultancy firm Deloitte. In their ‘Christmas in Germany’ analysis executed in the same year, Statista found that luxury products in particular are popular as presents for hosts or to create appealing plates of nibbles.

GINGERBREAD TO GO

The German Printen biscuit and gingerbread manufacturers Lambertz and Lebkuchen Schmidt are focusing on handy snack-sized treats for their Christmas confectionery packaging range for the Christmas season 2020. The mini bars, weighing 20 g and available both with and without a coat of chocolate, simply melt in your mouth - the perfect crime, and without any chocolatey fingers to prove otherwise. In addition, they’re very handy if you’re thinking of your figure or want to enjoy sweets together with your friends while abiding by corona regulations.

INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED

Mars Wrigley has picked up on the trend for individualism for the Christmas season and is proffering festive confectionery packaging with personalised Christmas greetings, as seen in its Celebrations truffle assortment. The company knows that products from the Celebrations brand with an individual design generate over 22% more sales. As an incentive for customers and in order to generate more opportunities to gain turnover within retail, promotional packaging can be marked using a free personalised sticker for the 2020 Christmas season. The process is simple:

1.Upload the voucher to the promotion website.

2.Create your sticker online.

3.Have it sent to your house by post.

4.Stick the sticker onto the packaging.

5.Hand over your gift!

In addition, the octagonal box with its three greetings - “Thank you”, “Happy holidays” and “Lots of love” are available to buy as the ideal host gift or present.

FATHER CHRISTMAS - THE FESTIVE CONFECTIONERY FAVOURITE

The stalwart of the festive season - it simply wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa Claus. He’s renowned as a lover of red-and-white garments, but has faced competition from green, black, blue and multicolour-clad Santas in a variety of flavours and flavour combinations. The new KitKat Santas will grab your attention in the shops with their cool signature design.

The brands HERSHEY'S, REESE'S, KIT KAT® and ICE BREAKERS have been vying to win consumers’ favour in selected markets since October 2020. Their weapons of choice are new flavours, unique shapes and chocolate bar formats. HERSHEY'S Cookies 'N' Creme Build-A-Snowman invites customers to enjoy both flavour and fun, as it is also interactive.
